Havanas story begins in the early
80's. Growing up without a mother and father present in her life Havana often
had feelings of loneliness and abandonment. At an early age she would mimic her
favorite artists by tape recording herself singing their songs. Raised by her
Grandmother in one of the worst gang neighborhoods in Southern California,
Havana, used music to zone out the violence and corruption she faced on a daily
basis.
As a young teenager she began to sing at talent shows and record in local
studios to expand her voice. Striving to be different and a step above the rest,
Havana, became a student of classical music. She studied opera and performed in
various plays before realizing her true talent; singing beautiful and melodic
verses over all types of rhythmic backdrops. With musical influences ranging
from Billie Holiday to Pat Benatar, Havana has embraced music as a changing
force in her life.
