L-Marie has been perfecting her craft for years. She began
pursuit of a singing career by performing in many venues around her hometown of
Glasgow. Since then, she has been through the many positive and negative
experiences that many unsigned artists go through, however all experiences have
taught invaluable lessons on every aspect of the industry and nothing has
deterred her from chasing her dream of success.
L-Marie is both singer and songwriter, using life experience to influence her
music. Being raised on artists such as Marvin Gaye and Aretha and influenced by
artists such as Lauryn Hill, Mary J and Jill Scott, she has been long aware of
the passion and soul that is involved in performance, and this is apparent when
she is on stage. Having performed with artists such as Shola Ama, Jamelia,
Sunshine Anderson, Terri Walker and Plan B, as well as on her own with a live
band in a collective of Edinburgh's Jazz & Soul venues, she understands the
importance of good delivery and enthusiasm when under the spotlight. |

More recently, L-Marie performed at this years
Nokia Urban Music Festival with the Princes Trust as part of the Nokia Raw
competition. She was performing on the day along with acts such as Will Smith,
Faith Evans, Common and Floetry, and the feedback so far has been very positive!
L-Marie has been collaborating with artists from record label SoulClap, a
division of Universal Urban, and has recently released Scotland's first R&B
Mixtape "Liza Heat, The UK's No.1 Draft Pick". The launch party on 11/03/05,
with live performance, was a great success. Performances in Glasgow's Chinawhite
sponsored by Grolsch, and appearances alongside Trevor Nelson, Choice FM's DJ
Swerve and 1xtra DJ, Manny Norte have ensured L-Marie has an active following in
her home town. Her recent showcase in ABC Glasgow was a complete success with a
full house on the night. She performed a live 45 minute set to an amazing
audience.
L-Marie's new projects
include the second instalment of the Liza Heat mixtape series, and a 6 track EP
of original material: "Street Heat Vol 1, The Relationship", which will be
available in September. L will also be recording a duet with SoulClap Records
signing, Ray Robinson on a soulful track called "Gotta" in the coming weeks.
She is collaborating with
producers from the UK and Canada, and the response so far has been a very
positive one.
With support from local DJs and radio stations such as Kiss FM, Radio 1, Beat
106, 1xtra and BBC Radio Scotland, L-Marie is sure her sound will be heard. She
is determined to help raise Scotland's profile with regards to urban music on
the whole, as well as aspiring to become a successful artist in her own right.
